A Warm Welcome
The Cattle Section makes every effort to try to make exhibitors feel very very welcome & treat them as we would like to be treated.
Last Year
After what has been a difficult few years for cattle, in 2009 we were not limited by restrictions resulting from outbreaks of disease.
We had some really fine beasts showing. Although it was not crowned Supreme Beef Champion we had a magnificent Suffolk bull, which caught our eye.
It was noticeable the interest shown in the milking of the dairy cattle, we are examining how we might make more of a feature of it.
Class Groupings
Although we have not yet agreed the exact format for 2010, it should be very similar to 2009.
Dairy Cattle :- Holsteins ; Other Dairy Breeds
Beef Cattle :- Herefords ; Highland ; Other Native Breeds; Continental Pure Breeds ; Commercial Beef
Young Farmers :- There are some classes for Young Farmers
Within these groups classes are held categorised by age & sex etc.
Each group is judged to decide on which is the best beast, the winner going forward to contest for best in group & if successful go on to contend in the supreme dairy or beef championship.
